::A figure in the background compared to more famous and noble names which, however, does not fully convey the intensity of this Swedish diplomat and linguist. Scholar of oriental languages is the basis of various translation methodologies which then led to the translation of hieroglyphics in the first half of the nineteenth century. Inside this cemetery, there is certainly one of the tombs to visit.

::Johan David Åkerblad is buried in the Protestant cemetery in Rome (Cimitero Acattolico di Roma). He is not very well known in the present, but a few years ago I read an excellent book by Fredrik Thomasson. The Rosette Key's first interpreter, Johan David Åkerblad's life in the Orient and Europe, and was fascinated by this intrinsic person who had an unusual ability to acquire new languages. The book is highly recommended! If you are in Rome then visit him, he is worth it, just a short walk from the Pyramid metro station. The entire cemetery is amazing.
