  I would have given this museum a higher rating had the gardens behind the Palace been maintained. It's sad that it hasn't been taken care of lately (June 2018). However the collection of art is well worth your time. Most dating back to the 1600's with Holbein, Caravaggio and Raphael. Two of the staircases are architectural masterpieces built by the Bernini and Borromini. I visited during the exhibition 'Eco e Narcisco' which runs untill October 2018, marking the first ever cooperation between the Maxxi Modern Art Museum and The National Museum of Ancient Art.

  I visited Palazzo Barberini- the stunning building with amazing exhibitions of art pieces of famous artists. It's easy to move in the object, the directions are well-marked. The staff is very nice.

  Stunning collections in fabulous architecture. One of the too many must sees in Rome.

  I personally would not recommend this unless you are an avid art lover. Note that exhibits are spread on three floors. Each floor has 58 stairs. Elevator is present but reserved only for staff and disabled. Paying 12 euro for this was too much in my opinion. To he two stairs in the building were off access to paying public.

  Very nice third floor and the second is quite interesting. Ground floor is somewhat more boring and more than several rooms were closed to the public. No chance to see the oval staircase, which is a pity. The ballroom is fantastic.
